DON'T RENT HERE. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF ON THE INSURANCE.

Be warned about their insurance policy! I had to pay quite a lot, additionally, for full coverage that was unexpected. If you book through kayak, make sure you understand their policies before you arrive.

Mexico has a mandatory insurance requirement that is not included in the price. So 179 was really over $500

the actual charges were 4 times what was quoted and the car was a piece of junk. It didn’t hold the amount of luggage it claimed and the handling the car had was terrible, bordering on dangerous.

Full disclosure of expenses was not complete, Mexico insurance was as much as the car rental and would have been nice to pick a plan before arriving in a Mexico. With Covid precautions, IE : mask and plexiglass, along with understanding a foreign language it was very diff to understand what was being offered. The tiny car we got was not at all suited for the bad Mexico roads, mileage was good but comfort was terrible.

I picked up in the town of Cabo. Alamo did not have the car I reserved. They were able to find another car, but it had to be cleaned. The pick up process took about 45 min.

They sent us an email DURING my flight to los cabos, telling me that due to “reasons beyond their control” they had to cancel my rental service. No substitute option or nothing

Did not have my car ready or available. Told me it wouldn’t be available until the next day.

Our flight was delayed so instead of picking up the car at noon, we arrived at 1:30, and were informed that our car had been “given away” and there were no cars for us to rent. The dude basically just shrugged and said there was nothing he could do to help when we asked what we were supposed to do without a car. We then had to scramble to rent with another company (and of course, same day reservations are more expensive.) We provided our flight info on the rental reservation, so it was easy to see that we were delayed. (Also, 90 minutes late seems like an extremely short window to assume someone isn’t picking up their rental regardless.) The whole thing felt like some kind of weird scam because the other rental car vendors at the airport descended on us and tried to get us to rent a car at an insane rate (one woman quote me $150 per day. I went online and got a reservation for $150 for 4 days.) it was super frustrating and unnecessarily stressful. I will definitely never rent from Sixt ever again, and will actively encourage friends and family to avoid them. Still trying to figure out how to get the insurance refunded..

When I reserved the car it only asked for dates, when we arrived at 7pm they said that our reservation was for noon so they no longer had economy cars available and we would have to pay an additional $287 for an SUV and insurance (our original rental was under $150). The agent was extremely rude and kicked me out of the office while my husband was talking to him because he said only one person per time was allowed in (presumably because of COVID but that doesn't make any sense since we were together.) A few days later he called and said he needed to switch vehicles because ours had the wrong plates? My husband said no after he had been so rude to us. The next day the manager called and said she'd credit the extra money we paid so we switched vehicles and all was good, but if you are renting here make sure the time on the reservation is correct! My husband heard them doing the same thing to the next customer.

Charged more than agreed. Gave away my car and barely a discount for lower car.

Was given a compact car after booking a mid-size. Pick-up was a disaster as the location of the office was incorrect.

The staff were trying to give you a discount if you went on a scammy boat tour.

Picking up the car was a very long process. Has to endure the sales of signing up for presentation to reduce the price of the local insurance .... $425/week for a minimum coverage!!! .... although it seemed to be negotiable. Apparently you reserve the car at a low rate and pay a high local insurance at check out!!

The pick-up experience was particularly terrible. The attendant working tried to sell me insurance that was more than 10x the cost of the rental itself. I attempted to deny coverage and have a hold placed on my AMEX Platinum card which did not go through for some reason. I am convinced that was done on purpose. I was clearly agitated and someone else there said the insurance would be $200 if my wife and I sat through a timeshare present compared to $550 if we did not. So a 2.5 hour timeshare later and still no credit for the insurance like was described. I'll never use this company again.
